Broadway Market Mews

Planning Success for a New Mews House at Broadway Market Mews

Hackney Council has granted planning permission for a new mews house located behind the Grade-II listed historic Pie and Mash shop,                                  which now functions as a trendy optician. Construction for the high spec mews house commenced and is set to be completed within this year.

Today, the modern spectacle maker, Cubitts, operates from this location. They have preserved all the 1930s interior, including the original signage, marble tables, and counters that once showcased eels. We have carried out works on the front façade of this grade-II listed building, inheriting and safe guarding its existing features to accommodate Cubitts. Additionally, the terrazzo flooring, Art Deco stained-glass windows, and white-tiled walls with inset mirror panels have been retained.
